I. The Burden

As the priests completed the seventh circuit around the city with their trumpets blaring, a mighty shout erupted from the ranks of the Israelites. And lo! The walls of Jericho fell flat, revealing the city to be conquered.

Thus was Jericho taken by force, and its people were put to the sword, as per the Lord's commandments. Yet Joshua spared Rahab the harlot, for she had hidden the Israelite spies in her home and so had saved their lives. She now became the mother of a new lineage within Israel.
