I. The Burden
And it came to pass, in those days of drought and darkness, that a great burden was laid upon the heart of Elijah the prophet of God. For the land had withered away, and the people were sorely troubled by the hand of the Lord. And there was no sign of rain or reprieve from the scorching sun, save for the miraculous dew that fell each night upon the earth.
II. The Testimony
Now it happened one day, as Elijah wandered in the wilderness, seeking solace and guidance from the Lord, that he encountered a young man named Elisha. And Elisha was plowing his father's field with twelve oxen when Elijah came upon him, for the people were hard-pressed to find food and sustenance amidst the famine.
And Elijah said unto Elisha, "Follow me, and I will show you great and mighty things." And Elisha, moved by the prophet's words and the heavy burden he carried upon his heart, left behind his father's field and his family, and followed after Elijah in faith.
III. The Challenge
And when they had journeyed together for many days, Elijah took hold of Elisha's mantle and cast it upon him, saying, "Behold, I cast upon you a double portion of my spirit, that you may be as me unto the people." And Elisha bowed his head in humility, knowing that such a gift was beyond his understanding.
IV. The Testimony
But as they continued their journey, the drought grew ever more severe, and the burden upon Elijah's heart became heavier still. And it came to pass that Elisha, seeing the distress of his mentor, spoke unto him, saying, "O my father, my father, the chariots of Israel and its horsemen!"

V. The Miracle
